Daylight

Taylor Swift has a song called "Daylight" that has been in my head for days. My favorite line is, "I used to think love was burning red, but it's golden, like daylight." It's special because in another song she sings about love that was red and like driving fast down a dead end street-- really great but ending so suddenly. Another line I love in "Daylight" is, "I don't want to look at anything else now that I saw you. I don't want to think of anything else now that I thought of you."

I resonate with that song right now. I feel like my life is golden, like daylight. It's so special and pure and light but also ordinary and every day and always. And now that I've experienced it, I don't want anything else.

Let me give you some examples from just today. Right now, Parley is almost asleep, snuggled so cozy in my arms. A minute ago, Nikki went to bed after having a wonderful snuggle with our boy and calming him right down from is 9 o'clock grumpies.

My tender sleepy boys!! We went on a long family walk and talked about what church callings would be our favorite and how we want to parent and what makes a good listener and so many other things. I gave Parley a bath, and he smiled at me while I was drying him off in his towel. I talked to most of my family today and felt close to them even though we're not together anymore. This is a huge one-- Parley slept for 5 hours and 17 minutes straight last night!! Parley spit up big in my hair, and Nikki came to the rescue and held Parley so I could wash it out right away. We got Parley a new toy off Facebook marketplace, and I think he likes it.

We cooked good food today, including a lovely berry salad that felt summery. I got a new wallpaper on my phone.

I'm so grateful for my golden life! I'm excited to stay in it forever. It's kind of crazy how much and at the same time how little my life is going to change from right now. We'll move, Parley will grow up, we'll have other kids and do different things, but I'm always going to be a mom. With Nikki. And I hope it will always be like daylight!
