Toddler Friends

Today was a big day for me! I got to hang out with three toddlers. Parley and I walked to Kiwanas Park this morning to meet Angel and her two kids for story time and play time at the park. We couldn't find them at first, so we walked all around. Parley fell dead asleep and didn't wake up until we got home. But I found them and had such a good time. I love Angel so much! It is so good to chat with a friend. Her third baby is due in three weeks. It was awesome to watch her with her kids. They are three and five and so capable! I'm going to miss all three of them when we move.

There were so, so many moms with their kids at the park! I felt like I am part of a special club. And I'm going to be in it for a long time. :)

This afternoon, our two-year-old neighbor, Daisy, came over. Her mom just had a baby, and she needed a friend to hang out with. We read books, colored on a whiteboard, played the piano, and stacked blocks. She loved Nikki's Smaug toy and was terrified by his robot toy. She adopted Smaug and had him look at the books with us and put him to sleep by flinging him into Parley's crib. (Don't worry, Parley wasn't in the crib at the time.) I started out playing with her, and halfway through, Parley was too hungry to go on, so we switched and Nikki played with her. It made me so happy watching them play and hearing them talk. Nikki was so dear to her. And she was very polite. Her most common phrases were "Thank you!" and "I am so sorry."

It's crazy to think that Parley will be a toddler before too long-- running around and playing with toys and saying cute things. It makes me really excited but also makes me want to snuggle him so tight and enjoy him as a baby. He is the most precious baby! He is going to be a toddler soon--he is growing so fast! Today, we retired more of his 0-3 month clothes and brought out some 3 month clothes. They are a little big on him but better than too small, I think. And he just looks dashing. This striped shirt is one of his new ones.
