Wonderful People
This week we had two dinner parties with absolutely wonderful people.
On Wednesday, we had John and Liz over for dinner. We had burritos, and they brought churros! They are getting married in July, and I am so, so happy for them. They are both such high quality people. It was so nice to hang out with them. We ate and chatted and played Bang. John won both times, which was unfortunate for the rest of us, but otherwise, it was a perfectly lovely time. It was so nice to be able to do something fun while being able to take care of Parley exactly how I wanted to at the same time. I was in my chair rocking him and feeding him with his diaper changing station and all his clothes and everything right there. A lot of fun things make life harder for Parley. People say that it's just fine if he doesn't eat or sleep right when he wants to and that it's fine for him to cry. They're probably right, but I still don't like it! So this was such a perfect time. We should invite people to dinner more often.
Thursday, we went to Midway for dinner with the Strongs. They were our mission leaders and some of our favorite people in the world. The food was delicious and their home and yard are gorgeous. Mostly it was so nice to be with people who care so much about us. They were so, so sweet to us and know all about our lives. They asked about the book I wrote and my thesis and job and made me feel so important. They were also so chill about Parley. He screamed huge kind of a lot, and they were just fine with it, and we just kept going. After dinner, we went outside to see their lavender and tree farm, and I told Sara I loved her peonies. She immediately went inside for some scissors and traded me for Parley. Jeff got this pretty glass vase and followed me around to hold the flowers I cut. He kept encouraging me to get more and recommending different types. All the while, he was talking to Nikki about being a dad and finding meaning in a career. It's so wonderful to have mentors and people that really, really care. When we got inside, I arranged the flowers I picked. They kept complimenting my arranging skills the rest of the night. Sara also made a Tallahassee trivia game for us. Nikki won. And she made keylime pie that was so good.
We're going to miss them so much. We're going to miss John and Liz, too, and all our friends here. We know such wonderful people. I feel really blessed.
In other news, I wore my nonmaternity, favorite skinny jeans today for the first time since very early pregnancy. I was so, so excited! I asked Nikki to take a picture for proof.
He's so cute! And look at you in those skinny jeans!
ReplyDeleteParley is changing so much! He is just adorable! Great job with everything. One bonus of breastfeeding was it helped me lose weight--I wish I could do it now!
