Fairfield

We went to Fairfield this weekend to celebrate the 4th of July and Sharon's birthday with our family. It was so nice. Fairfield in the summer time is one of my favorite places. It's a quiet little town, and we stayed about 10 minutes out of town in a cute little airbnb. The air is crisp and much cooler than Provo and smells good. It was my favorite sky (no clouds at all, just giant and blue) almost the whole time.

And I love the people! Parley met one of his Great Grandma Lauras (he has two) and the rest of his aunts. They are just wonderful, and Parley was so happy to meet them. And of course it was great to see Sharon, and we had a lovely time with the Fairfield branch for church. We had a pretty lazy time and did lots of chatting and hanging out.

It was a nice trip, but on it, I solidified my knowledge of what the worst thing in the world is. It's Parley suffering. Fairfield is a five hour drive away, and Parley has never gone farther than 40 minutes. He was really tough and slept a lot, but there were also times both travel days where he just screamed and screamed and cried so much and made the biggest grumpy faces. It broke my heart! I was so grateful for Nikki who was sitting back with him for the worst of it. Parley did some better when he sucked on his dad's finger, and Nikki's arm went numb, he gave Parley his finger for so long. Then Parley was sleepy and had his naps messed up and was in a new place. Our first night there was the 4th of a July, and Sharon had a box of little baby fireworks/ fountain things. Parley and I went to bed early and missed all the big fireworks, but we tried a few of those little ones. Most of them were quiet and just fine, but a few were loud, and Parley hated them. He cried and screamed at that, too.

I'm so glad we went and saw people we love so much, but I'm so happy to be home. I'm just snuggling and feeding Parley in my cozy rocking chair after our big travel day, and it feels so good. I love taking care of my boy!
