Grandparents Appreciation Post

I love my parents so much. They do so much for me all the time, and I'm so grateful. But it just feels even more wonderful and special when they do things for Parley. He is so lucky to have such wonderful grandparents.

This is what today looked like for him. He slept in until a little after 9. Then he had grandma time while I went running and took a bath. They had outdoor baby on the front lawn and played with his favorite toy. He also hung out with his grandpa during breakfast. He always tells Parley how much he is going to love food when he can eat it.

Then Parley took a very long nap while his grandparents worked like crazy. Then he got some grandpa time. He mostly practiced jumping and had pigs in space. I don't remember if he got a tour of the yard or not today, but his grandpa loves to give him those.

Then we all went to Boulder. Parley slept the whole time! It was just lovely though. Someday he'll love splashing around with his grandparents. Charlotte and Ruby walked back early with us so Parley could get some food at home.

Then Parley had a big chunk of grandma time. She read books to him, and he just loved it! She also sang him some songs, and the two of them just laughed together.

She also helped him get all ready for his bath and got him in pajamas after. He was just pampered. We had a lovely dinner that Aunt Clarissa made. His grandma and grandpa and I took turns holding him as we ate. (Poor kid. I spilled soup on him at lunch and ranch on him at dinner!)
Then he got a nice walk around on the porch with his grandpa. Those two are special friends.

Parley fell asleep around 7:30, and I foolishly tried to put him in his crib. He was not happy at all about it and showed it by being incredibly fussy and refusing to fall asleep (though he's getting close now, at 10). We played Antiquity Quest and took turns having Parley as a partner.
I beat Mom at the last second through treachery, and she still took Parley for a very long turn and worked real hard to get him to sleep while Dad shared what he learned from the scriptures with us.
And all this was just today! Yesterday Mom got him to sleep quick as anything at the windy ward party. She is magic at getting him to sleep! And on I think Wednesday, Dad took him for over an hour so I could get a nap. Usually if Dad has him, I find them outside somewhere picking berries. Parley is just so loved and taken care of, and it makes me want to cry with happiness.
We both miss Nikki so, so much, and we're really excited to go home to him. But it is such an incredible blessing to be here with my wonderful parents before we leave. We're really going to miss them!

  1. I love this, Liberty. Your parents are such good grandparents. I'm sure they will have such a good relationship with Parley. How we will miss you.
