Church Family

The social aspect of church is a huge deal and often underrated. I realized this on my mission when a community was so much of what people were looking for. When people had just moved, it was normal to ask if they'd found a "church family" yet.

Nikki went to Idaho this weekend for his good friend's wedding reception, so Parley and I have been on our own. We've missed him so much! So we were extra happy to be with our church family. I'm so excited about our ward. I am relying on them so much to be my family and community, not just when Nikki is gone, but our whole time here. I don't know anyone here, and the church is pretty much my only way to meet people because I won't even go to work. And they are ready for it.

Macey gave us a ride to church, sat with me in sacrament meeting, and carried all my things to Relief Society when Parley fell asleep on me. Edna met Parley last Sunday and this Sunday brought a bag full of church board books for him. Jenny found me after sacrament meeting to tell me she lives close to me and Jennie sat by me in Relief Society and talked with me the whole time. The whole Relief Society lesson was on Elder Uchtdorf's most recent talk about creating a ward family. Perfect! Sisi (the gorgeous mom of a 10 month old) taught. I met her after, and she said she wants to have us over for dinner sometime. I also met Nicole who also has a baby, but she's moving on Saturday, so I don't know if I'll ever see her again.

All this to say that people are wonderful and such a blessing, and I am so, so grateful for the community and family I have through Christ's church.

I am also so excited for Nikki to come home tonight! AND, Parley slept 8 hours in a row on Friday night. He's incredible.
